5 Things to Take When Going to College

It’s time to pack up and head off to college but what should you take with you? It would be best to sit down and make a list of the things that you need. This way, you don’t end up with a lot of things that you can’t use and missing something that you desperately need. Since you’ll be living in a small dorm room that you’ll be sharing with someone else, you don’t want to end up with a lot of extra stuff that you don’t have room for. Hence, be practical when making the list.

It’s obvious that you need your clothes and a computer but there are a few other things that would make your dorm room stay much more enjoyable. For example, everyone needs a small refrigerator to keep beverages and snacks in. These can be a lifesaver when you’re up late at night studying and you need something to snack on.

Here are 5 more things you should take to college with you that many students don’t think about until it’s too late:

1. You’ll need to take along a power strip and adaptor so you’ll be able to plug up your computer, TV and other accessories.
2. Ear plugs is not something that most people would think about but you may need them to help drown out the excessive noises that often accompany living in a college dorm. There will be times when you need them to concentrate while studying and even times when you may need them to sleep.
3. Don’t forget the bathroom supplies. You’ll need a carrying case for toiletries so you don’t have to carry all of your personal things out in the open, especially if you have to walk to the other end of the hallway. Take along a pair of shower shoes in case you end up having to share the bathroom with many of the other students.
4. Considering the fact that you have very little room in the dorm, it’s recommended that you take along some storage containers. This will help you keep everything organized so you won’t be so cluttered up. You can also take along an under-the-bed storage unit that won’t be in the way at all.
5. Bring along some extra bedding. If you just have one set of sheets, you’re going to end up wishing you had more. There may be times when you need clean sheets but you simply don’t have the time to spend washing them.

If you remember the 5 things to take when going to college listed here, your time spent on campus will be a much happier one. You don’t need to be stressed out because you forgot to bring along some of the smaller but still very important things you need in order to be comfortable.
